On Wednesday I attended Christine Ely’s Advanced WordPress in a Day class at the School of Visual Concepts in Seattle. Wonderful instructor and class as was the last one. To quote from the class description, “This class will be based around Premium WordPress Themes and will feature the StudioPress Genesis Framework. The class content caters to WordPress ‘self hosted’ accounts (WordPress.org) and not WordPress.com blogs.
The Genesis Framework has been chosen for this course as it includes a multitude of enhanced features that make the process of developing fully customized and ‘future proof’ Professional Websites and Blogs a reality. Themes are a hugely important component in the WordPress environment as they not only interpret and present the power of WordPress but also include add-on features that truly enhance that presence.
This course will discuss: · Theme Customization and Design Elements
· Dynamic Content
· Custom Menus
· Plugins (and Widgets)
· Photo Galleries
· Advanced eCommerce Solutions
· Social Media Integration – Facebook, Google +, Twitter etc
· Incorporating Tables and Frames
· Search Engine Optimization
· RSS Feeds and Email Subscriptions and Newsletters”
